Last time we heard from visual artist and Creator Quayola he was creating abstract animations out of athletic movement with Memo Akten. His latest project is another audiovisual collaboration but this time with Abstract Birds, who he teamed up with previously for Partitura 001, a real-time generative sound visualisation inspired by Kandinsky, Paul Klee, Oscar Fischinger, and Norman McLaren.Using the same Partitura custom software (below), the latest work from Quayola and Abstract Birds is called Partitura-Ligeti and will be shown at the Nemo Festival in Paris from November 27th to December 16th, 2012. The piece will involve both a live performance—based on composer Ligeti's sonata for viola solo and performed by Odile Auboin—and a triptych installation at MAC de Créteil.Six Ligeti pieces will be transformed into a visual score, translating the sounds into abstract shapes and geometric forms—and much like many of Quayola’s previous AV work, explores the concept of synesthesia in regards to sound and image.Partitura 001You can find out more about Quayola’s work in our documentary below.@stewart23rd
