Tobias Stretch's "Vagabond Mutant Liquid" is a tragic tale told in under two minutes.

A fibrous vagabond pushes a possessed shopping cart through Tobias Stretch's new short film for "Liquid," an episode of Off The Air from Adult Swim. Now, the animator is back with Vagabond Mutant Liquid, and we have so many questions. What the hell is that thing in the shopping cart? Is our fuzzy protagonist just hallucinating? Or is it actually a heartfelt love story between a vagabond and his monster? Only Stretch knows these answers.

The animator has established himself as one of the most distinctive stop-motion directors of our generation—previously winning Radiohead’s video animation competition for "Weird Fishes," and fascinating viewers with his surprisingly sentimental and heartfelt short films.

As always with Stretch's work, the video is sensitive, emotive, and impeccably animated. See for yourself in the full film below.
