How would you like to do away with the traditional camera when taking a photo and instead use your hands to frame a shot? That’s the idea behind the Ubi-Camera, currently being developed by the Institute of Advanced Media Arts and Sciences in Japan.“When you draw a picture or take a photo, you sometimes form a rectangle with your hands to decide the composition. With this camera, you can take a photo using the exact same motion,” says Yoshimasa Furuyama. The camera attaches to your index finger allowing you to make the rectangle shape with your hands. The rectangle becomes your viewfinder and when you push your thumb against the device, the shutter is pressed and the photo taken.If your face is close to the device you get a wide-angle shot. Move it further away for a closeup. The camera is still being developed and at the moment has to have a wired connection to a PC to work, but Furuyama says a stand alone version is something they’d like to make, along with a few other things they need to iron out before the public gets to play with it.[via Core77]@stewart23rd
