Brandon Bloommaert: I am a artist and animator.What kind of hardware do you use?
MacBook Air, iMac, Mac Pro Quad Core (on loan), and Wacom Tablet. In addition to, Canon 5D (on loan) and Canon G9.
I use Adobe After Effects, Dragonframe Stop Motion Software, and Adobe Photoshop. As well as Wings 3D, Circle, Audacity, Peak (RIP), and Pepakura Designer, etc.What piece of equipment can you simply not live without?
Bike! If I don’t get a bit of exercise everyday I feel like garbage and can’t do anything.
If money were no object, how would you change your current setup?
Mmm, I am usually happy to work with very little. Give me a knife and a piece of paper and I am pretty happy. But, I am currently working in a studio at the National Film Board of Canada and that place is pretty much stocked beyond my wildest dreams. When I first arrived I found a Mark Roberts Robotic Motion Control system in the corner of the studio, I never in a million years thought I would have access to one of these things and it has been pretty fun to use (even if I do need a lot of help to make it work). If I could have one of these robots around me all the time I would not complain.Is there any piece of technology that inspired you to take the path you did?
Probably the Macintosh IIsi, which is the first computer I used to make images with. I had tried other computers, but this was the first one I ever used where I just automatically and intuitively started making things. Sorry, Commodore 64!What is your favorite piece of technology from your childhood?
Nintendo! I grew up with lots of techno gadgets, like photocopiers and photo enlargers, and they were fun to play with, but the Nintendo was way more fun.What fantasy piece of technology would you like to see invented?
Probably some kind of food synthesizer. Most of the food I make tastes like butt breath, so a food synthesizer might save my life big time.@kfloodwarning
