Viral Style: Cyborg Sneakers, Superhero Jackets, and Satellite Sweatshirts

The week in fashion and tech was out of this world.

GOOGLE EARTH-INSPIRED COLLECTION OF THE WEEK

Check it: LA-based label

FourTwoFour on Fairfax

has dropped a new collection for Spring/Summer that's out-of-this-world cool… well, nearly. A range of loose-fitting monochrome sportswear shapes have been revamped with satellite graphics taken from

Google Earth

; a style inspired by the designer looking up his brother's street on the site after he was being deported from the US to Guatemala. Key pieces include tees, bombers, and track pants, each complete with printed photoreal placements and latitude/longitude coordinates.

3D SCANNING PHONE OF THE WEEK

Speaking of Google, the company has just revealed a new phone design that could potentially revolutionize the way we navigate, complete with a built-in 3D scanner. Project Tango is able to construct a live three-dimensional map of its surroundings with an advanced sensor function, a motion-tracking camera and computer vision processors, and can take quarter of a million 3D measurements in a single second. Struggling to navigate with wonky Map apps will be a thing of the past! Bad news for you Average Joes though, as it stands Google is set on just selling the technology to developers.

FUTURISTIC KICKS OF THE WEEK

Ever wondered what your favorite sneaks might look like in the future? Bulgarian artist Simeon Georgiev has, as envisioned in a new project that gives the Nike Air Max 1 and Roshe Run footwear styles a 31st century makeover. Crafted with clean, minimal lines and molded panels, both looks fit seamlessly with the designs of their new cyborg owners.

WEARABLE FITNESS TECH OF THE WEEK

If you’ve been thinking about upping your fitness game lately–and reckon that whole wristband concept is kinda dated now that it's landed at JD Sports–this is definitely the garment for you. The catchily-named D-Shirt is crafted from a lightweight sensor-woven fabric which is able to record your heart rate and speed when you’re out on a run, keeping track of all your vital stats on a linked-up smartphone app via Bluetooth. You can also keep tabs on your GPS location, route and altitude–the tee is even machine washable. Don’t waste it just schlepping round your neighborhood though; it’s the perfect piece to score points at the gym.

SAFETY-CONSCIOUS APPAREL OF THE WEEK

Then again, maybe you want to rev up your workout wardrobe even further–if so, the Sporty Supahero jacket could complement that D-Shirt perfectly. Designed by

Wolfgang Langeder

, the apparel is crafted out of a soft, flexible e-textile that will keep you visible in even the darkest of conditions, whether you’re out to cycle or pound the pavement. Looks pretty slick too, and there’s even a light belt and bag available–however, prices aren’t cheap, starting at $200 and finishing just under the $2000 mark. Maybe it’s worth hanging onto that tacky high-vis vest for a little while longer.

#MUSTHAVE COLLECTION OF THE WEEK

With his clean, forward-thinking aesthetic, we’re pretty big fans of Alexander Wang; check out his new Objects No. 4 Collection. Designed as a “curation of personal items that fit into our everyday lives”, these lux accessories range from pill case key rings and shot glasses to clip-on chains, worked in textures like gold metals and black marble, and finished with a cool, contemporary minimal edge. Amen to Payday, am I right? You can get hold of the designs here.
