Wake Up To An Experimental Alarm Recorded By Jon Hopkins

Wouldn't you rather wake up to some avant-garde electronic music, compared to your typical ring?

Jon Hopkins' experimental, IDM production often evolves from slow, contemplative textures to chaotic and all-consuming soundscapes. Take "Open Eye Signal," for example: the track grows from a sonic buzz to a cathartic atmosphere over the course of six minutes, until a jolting, jumpy breakdown takes over to close the song. Therefore, it makes perfect sense that the producer would make an alarm call as part of Rob da Bank's Alarm Call series.

In the past, the Diplo, Mount Kimbie, and Wild Beasts have contributed to series (special shoutout to the airhorn in Bondax's addition), and the sounds of Hopkins are a welcomed addition to our morning—though his alarm is a little soothing compared to some of the others. Now if only Death Grips made a ringtone before they broke up, we know we'd have a reliable tool to wake up on time every morning.
