Watch Projection-Mapped Kung Fu Between a Man and His Shadow

Everybody's kung fu fighting their own shadows in Pixel n' Pepper's new performance 'Black & White.'

Projection-mapped choreography meets Enter the Dragon in a Auditoire's new performance at the Hamdan International Photography Award in Dubai, introducing its black and white category. A dancer enters the stage seemingly alone, but is soon challenged to a kung fu battle royale by his own digital shadow, and it only escalates from there. A second dancer gets involved, turning the show into something like a live episode of Dragonball Z,animated by MC Escher and directed by Bruce Lee.

The latter half of the show fuses choreography with projected pictures taken from the 20 finalist photographers honored in this year's competition. The theme was "Life in Color," and Indian photographer Anurag Kumar took home the grand prize for his vibrant image of India's Holi festival. The HIPA photography awards are Auditoire's debut in Dubai its very first event since its arrival in Dubai in January, in collaboration with Pixel n' Pepper for the projection mapping, and Studio Hybride for the choreography.
