Visions of America: Amériques / Video Artist Cut from Refik Anadol on Vimeo. For those who were unable to witness the fantastic performance in person, Anadol unveils a clip of some of the event's stellar highlights, viewable above. For the visuals, Anadol had to create an algorithmic sound analysis platform that could respond to the music in real time. In addition, he and his team captured LA Philharmonic conductor Esa-Pekka Salonen’s body movements with a Microsoft Kinect and 3D depth camera analysis. “To create the 21st century’s performing experience, we needed to re-invent most of the behaviors that are working for the conventional performance pipelines,” he told us in our previous interview.“Rather than approaching this medium as a means of escape into some disembodied techno-utopian fantasy, this project sees itself as a means of return,” Anadol explains in the video's description. “It aims to facilitate a temporary release from our habitual perceptions and culturally biased assumptions about being in the world, and to enable us, however momentarily, to perceive our own stories and the stories around us freshly.”Watch excerpts from the In/Sight collaboration above, and below, take a peek behind-the-scenes of Refik Anadol's latest A/V spectacular:Related:Refik Anadol's A/V Light Spectacular Comes To Gehry's LA Concert HallThe Science Of Sound Gets Visualized In This A/V ExperimentExploring The Physical And Digital Through Architectural DesignCathedral Installation Turns Text Messaged Thoughts Into Shooting Stars
