When Indiana Jones Met Dali: Classic Paintings Become 8-Bit Game Mashups

Leisure Suit Larry turns nighthawk.

How Appropriate. You Fight Like A Post-Impressionist. Mash-up of The Secret of Monkey Island (1990) and Vincent van Gogh's Cafe Terrace On The Place Du Forum (1888)

The art of the mashup doesn’t have to be confined to music and video. There’s much more copyright-infringing fun to be had! Take for instance this ingenious series of images mashing up classic works of art with popular video games from the 80s and 90s, rendered in the ubiquitous 8-bit pixel art aesthetic that we all know and love and may or may not be getting sick of. Playfully toeing the line between low and high culture, these mashups create absurdist “what if” scenarios that look at what a parallel universe where Indiana Jones finds himself lost in the diffused world of Dali’s melting clocks might look like (and it looks good).
