Creators Remix Roundup: Four Tet, Birdy Nam Nam, And Passion Pit

Four Tet remixes Faulty DL, Boys Noize electrifies Cut Copy, and Passion Pit screens the folksy-ness out of Imagine Dragons.

Our Creators are a talented and prolific bunch, and our inbox is always overflowing with alerts of new remixes and mashups from the incredible DJs and producers in our line-up. We just couldn't keep these fresh new tunes to ourselves because, after all, filesharing is caring. Here are our top picks from the past week. For past Creators Remix Roundups, click here.

FaltyDL – Straight and Arrow (Four Tet Remix)

For this new number from Ninja Tune’s Falty DL, Four Tet maintained the basic make-up but upped the tempo a touch and dance-ified it a touch further than the original. This one reminds us why we’re so thankful that great producers have traded in straight house beats for swingy syncopations like this one.

Cut Copy “Lights and Music” (Boys Noize Remix)

For Cut Copy’s true-to-80s song “Lights and Music,” Boys Noize enlisted some of that known remix skill to turn it into an anthemic club banger. How does he do it, seriously? It’s like he could take an Enya song and turn it into German techno extravaganza. In fact, consider this is a challenge to do exactly that, Boys Noize.

Imagine Dragons – It’s Time (Passion Pit Remix)

Removing any trace of folkiness that existed in the original song (and there are a lot of those traces), Passion Pit manages to eek a party vibe out of a track that originally contained harpsichord. Harpsichord, for Pete’s sake! We weren’t expecting such a transformation, but Passion Pit really knows how to gut a track and turn it into something worth bumping on a rig.
