Premiere: Watch the New Video for Louie Knuxx’s “Sand”

The Kiwi MC just dropped a video for a track from his "PGT/GRR" album.

You may notice that Louie Knuxx has dollar signs tattooed on his eyelids. You may notice that the Kiwi MC has a lot of things tattooed everywhere. Though he’s now over the tats because “every dickhead jock has one”, it’s safe to say that his hip hop career is set to continue with the Young Gifted and Broke crew.

After spending a number of years living in Melbourne, Knuxx returned to New Zealand where he teamed up with Tom Scott and Lui Tui from @peace to record “Sand”, a track from his second album PGT/GRR (Progressive Gangsta Thug slash Gentleman Romance Rap) that was released earlier this year.

Directed by Tim D and Jamie McReady, the video has the three guys sitting around a kitchen table, doing gak and waxing philosophical while a large hourglass acts as a metaphor for something. Time? Life? A quarter kilo?

We sent Louie some questions to find out more.

NOISEY: There’s a lot of blow in the clip but also cans of Hite. That Korean beer is nasty.
Louie Knuxx: I was in charge of providing the beer; if you'd ever seen Lui Tui drink beer you would understand why I went for the cheap shit.

You are now back in New Zealand. Is there anything you miss about Australia or you are just glad to be home?
I'm glad to be home, it's 'fuck Australia' on the whole really bar some close friends, family and the Tandoori Nights restaurant.

Your style has been called 'sedate rap'. Is there anything like lean in NZ?
No but there is cough syrup with morphine in it, which is far superior because you can get high without going to war with your eyelids.

How did you hook up with the Young Gifted and Broke crew?
A lot of the guys have really attractive dads so I kind of weaseled my way in so I can meet some of these dads.

"PGT/GRR" is available now.
