The official death toll has not been confirmed.A man entered First Baptist Church in South Sutherland, a small town around 35 miles from San Antonio, and shot multiple people around 11:30 AM, according to police. The man is now dead, according to KSAT 12.ABC News is reporting that the shooter was a white male in his twenties and that at least 27 people died in the shooting, a number also reported by CNN.Wilson County commissioner Albert Gamez Jr. told CNN that an emergency medical technician told him 27 people were dead and 24 others were injured.A reporter for KSAT 12 on the scene posted a video of families sitting outside the church waiting to hear about loved ones.https://twitter.com/MaxMasseyT…One of the deceased is the 14-year-old daughter of the church’s pastor, Frank Pomeroy, according a CNN interview given by his wife, Sherry Pomeroy. She added that neither of them were at the church during the shooting.Texas Governor Greg Abbott said in a tweet, “Our prayers are with all who were harmed by this evil act.”

President Donald Trump said he was monitoring the situation from Japan, his first stop in a five-country trip through Asia.
Texas Senators John Cornyn and Ted Cruz also condemned the attack, with Cruz calling it “truly evil.”
In a statement about the shooting to ABC News, Senator Chris Murphy (D-CT) said, “The terrifying fact is that no one is safe so long as Congress chooses to do absolutely nothing in the face of this epidemic.”
