IRL Accessory Of The Week

Everyone's wrists look so naked these days. Either you guys have totally dismissed watches since you realized your phone can tell the time, or your waiting for the next-gen of smart watches to come in. G-Shock is looking to challenge all of this though with their new GA-5600AA model watch, which comes with built-in Bluetooth features. The watch is capable of synching with iPhone 4S and 5 through a specialized G-Shock App streams all your phones activities, calls etc. through the watch face—and even vibrates if you ever lose your phone. High Snobiety made a dope vide to demonstrate its functionality. 'Gimme my phone dawg' indeed.

Looking for that must have accessory for your online presence this week? We’re big fans of digital artist BadSmellingBoy, so we were psyched to see his new range of digital bags doing the rounds on Tumblr, based on the classic Longchamp shape. Prints include graffiti-ed tulips, Bill Clinton posters, and neon-cheek Pikachus; color match and coordinate to suit. Reblog here.

Wearable Tech Of The Week

As technology continues to develop at 100mph, clothes keep getting smarter too—and frankly, we’re loving it. This week, the ‘Karma Chameleon’ project by techheads at Montreal’s Concordia University is pressing our buttons. The guys at Concordia have created a range of clothes that change color and shape according to the wearer’s movement—there’s also a shirt that can charge your mobile phone. It’s all done by electronic components woven into the composite fibres of the clothing to create 'smart fibres." These interact with each other to produce the effects, meaning the clothing is effectively wireless outside of natural stitching/tailoring. This technology is currently in prototype stage and may soon be available to members of the military, but don't hold your breath if you're waiting to pick some pieces up from Topshop. Estimates are currently at about 20/30 years before these kind of designs land on the high street, sad face. :(

Med Tech Of The Week

Move over NHS’ standard plastic issue—prosthetic limbs just got a new tech upgrade. Check out the i-limb, an ultra-evolutionary robotic hand that can be controlled with 24 different grips via an IOS app. Created by Touch Bionics, the hand has five individually powered digits, as well as a rotating wrist and aluminium chassis. Teenager Patrick Kane has become the first person in the UK to be fitted with an i-limb—choosing the stylish black design over the skin tone model.

Pet Gadget Of The Week

And finally, ever wondered what your dog gets up to when you’re not at home? Sony has come up with the perfect solution—their new action mount. The AKA-DM1 harness is hitting Japan on Friday, which you can strap on to your pooch (along with the handy Sony GoPro competitor cam) to get a mutts-eye view of their adventures. The back of the sofa never looked so exciting. NB there is some limitations on sizing; the harness is available for dogs of 33lbs only and a belly circumference of 20-31 inches.
