Leonardoworx: I’m Leonardo Betti aka Leonardoworx, a 360 degree digital artist focused on directing short movies, 3D motion graphics, sound design, and interactive installations. I started using new technologies when I was a kid, using them as a language to express my feelings, reactions to things that happened to me, and just to communicate. After studying music and new technologies at Conservatorio in Florence and then at IRCAM (Centre Pompidou), this became my way of life and now I create my stuff for art galleries, museums, events, fashion brands, and stores. I also create a lot of personal stuff just ‘cause I’m hyperactive.What kind of hardware to you use?
Mainly, I use two Mac Pro’s, two Macbook Pro’s, two DSLR cameras I use for my short movies, lights, sensors, the Kinect and my Monome 64.Aracne 8.0.What kind of software do you use?
Cinema 4D, After Effects, and a lot of nice plugins for the video and CGI part, Logic Pro, a lot of iPad apps, and for the interactive installations I use Max/Msp and Jitter.What piece of equipment can you simply not live without?
This is a hard question. Maybe my Mac Pro? Or my camera? I think I need both, the camera to shoot and the Mac Pro to track the video movements to add sci-fi 3D stuff!If money were no object, how would you change your current set up?
A dream! OK, first of all, everything should start with a big party in my studio! Then, I definitely need to own a Render Farm. I like the thing to have the control and on my own do all the creative process and steps of a project in each aspect from A to Z.Is there any piece of technology that inspired you to take the path you did?
The Flux Capacitor.What is your favorite piece of technology from your childhood?
Definitely my first computer when i was six years old. An Olivetti Prodest PC 128, the CPU was a Motorola MC 6809 with 128KB RAM! I remember that I started doing funny stuff with BASIC with my dad.What fantasy piece of technology would you like to see invented?
