Japanese Installation Creates Luminescent Mountain

Rokko Shidare by Hiroshi Sambuichi lights up the night sky in over 10,000 colors.

Set against the backdrop of Japanese's scenic Rokko Mountains, solar powered "nature sensory observation deck" Rokko Shidare by Hiroshi Sambuichi not only looks stunning, but also runs on solar and wind power alone. Created to be hyper-sensitive to fluctuations in the surrounding environment, Rokko Shidare is designed to attract frost for insolation in winter, and pull wind though an open ceiling to cool down in summer.
