It's clear Wabz has a way with sound. His debut single "Sweetwater Creek" arrived out of the blue on Solitaire Records earlier this year, a sophisticated slice of two-step garage pop. Now, the Melbourne producer offers us "Alley," another side of his studio skills. It's a darker dancefloor cut with rough rhythms, haunting vocal samples, and soothing acoustic textures. Movement and stillness in equal measure, it's a song seemingly descended from the folk-inflected electronic sounds of early Four Tet."'Alley' is an attempt to capture a moment of solitude and reflection in this busy world," says Wabz. "You can be in a bustling city, filled with faces passing by, yet you can turn down a single alley in that same city and it can be comfortably secluded, quite. A place you can pause and watch the pulse of the world without the pressure of having to go with it, just watch it go by and reflect."My upcoming album, Argyle,__ as a whole is me reflecting, trying to capture moments in time I want others to vibrate with. I hope 'Alley' is one of those tracks that creates the right amount of nostalgia and reminds people of the place they were at in their lives when they heard it. I hope they relive that moment and the music reminds them of things they otherwise wouldn't have remembered."Wabz on SoundCloud
