The Creators Project Spotlight

Highlighting the most innovative and inspiring creations submitted by our readers.

One of the best things about technology is its ability to empower creative minds by making the tools of production accessible to all, and increasingly affordable. The skills and means of becoming a great software artist, digital animator, experimental sound or video artist, or chiptunes musician are, by and large, within reach, and it seems like just about everyone we know has got a creative pet project in the works.

THE FACE – A Stop Motion Painting by JP Zuviate

We were instantly charmed by this bright yet melancholy stop-motion animation painting submitted by New York-based artist John Paul Zuviate. We love its marriage of old and new mediums — at once exploring the texture and dynamism of paint, while playing with the notion of time and perception through video.

Long Summer (excerpt)Andrew Benson

This submission from San Francisco-based experimental video artist Andrew Benson sent us into a psychedelic frenzy and reminded us of the color-melting animations of Creator Takeshi Murata. Benson will be exhibiting this piece shortly at the ROJO ®NOVA festival in Sao Paolo, Brazil.

Fever Sleeves – Futuristic Killings music video by David McHank

This animated stop-motion music video for the Fever Sleeves song “Futuristic Killings” comes from San Diego-based artists David McHank and Tony Gidlund. The song is great and the video features an animated ghost making his way through the record sleeve artwork of all your favorite albums — what’s not to love?
