Inventor, designer, and purveyor of wild ideas Dominic Wilcox is the subject of a creative new short doc, THE REINVENTION OF NORMAL, by filmmaker Liam Saint-Pierre. We've seen a few of Wilcox's off-the-wall imaginings, like the Stained Glass Driverless Sleeper Car of the Future, and Binaudios, binoculars for the ears, but this new glimpse into his life explores the place where that creativity comes from. For example, Wilcox explains how starting his 30 Days of Creativity blog, Variations on Normal, forced him to think of new ideas. "Every morning I would wake up in this cold sweat thinking, 'What am I gonna do?' And you're making decisions really quickly, which is good because it's like getting in contact with your heart and your instincts." That blog has since grown into an unconventional online space and a physical book that explores Wilcox's endless stream of creativity.Throughout the doc, Wilcox explains some of his not-yet-actualized ideas in bursts of his own drawings woven, animated with help from Shroom Studios. According to the artist, genetically-modified square peas, reverse bungee jumping, and a door book are just a few inventions that may soon emerge from his studio.Watch the whole documentary above, and check out some of our favorite designs from Dominic Wilcox below:Visit Dominic Wilcox's site for more of his unique designs, and check out Liam Saint-Pierre's other work here.Related:Dream As You Cruise Inside This Stained Glass Driverless CarListen To The Sounds Of A City With These Giant Listening ConesThis Invention Lets Your Pizza Tweet Every Time You Take a BiteThis Exists: A Mouth-Covering Mic for Lonely Karaoke
