As its name suggests, the Full Moon Party is an all-night beach party that happens every full moon night—it originated in Haad Rin on the island of Ko Pha Ngan, Thailand. There no mystery about its concept: everybody goes to the seafront to get high "get lucky" while massive soundsystems blast music all night long and its warm and beautiful and everyone's mind is blown. (It's also the perfect opportunity for people to show off all the fluo and other neon stuff made in China they bought on Ebay for cheaper than the delivery fees—thanks globalisation!).Things also work the other way around, and now the folks from MATTE bring the ancestral Asian celebration to an island of New York. This Saturday, June 22, MATTE presents Full Moon on Governor's Island. The lineup is 15 hours of music including disco-pop band Miami Horror, Brooklyn-based duo Tanlines, Destiny's Child remixer Cyril Hann, French icon Yuksek and more.
