E-Window Can Turn Every Place Into The Most Soothing House In The World

French digital art collective Electronic Shadow’s upcoming installation is an oasis of serenity.

The French arts festival Futur en Seine’s detailed programming schedule has just dropped, giving us a look at the unseen works that will be shown in some of Paris’s most renowned cultural spots (including 104 and the Gaité Lyrique) between the 17th and the 26th of June. After it’s first appearance in 2009, the festival dedicated to "the popular celebration of life and digital creation," has relaunched with the returning ambition to "imagine, construct and celebrate the future!"

On display will be 17 heterogeneous projects (or “prototypes”), installations, and digital works that have been conceived especially for the festival. The artworks ranging ranging from music and augmented reality to architecture and transmedia will present an overview and introduction to digital arts. There’s an improved running shoe, an imaginary rock band, a 3D pantheon, as well as an interactive chair in the mix. No doubt we’ll be there to check them out and report on the most interesting projects.

A piece that we were particularly drawn to, is the project by French electro duo and digital art and hybrid design maestros, Electronic Shadow, who we hope to soon cross paths with again.

Their installation, called e-Window (photo above) is a digital window that’s connected to the internet, making use of space around us to display an imaginary world. It’s right between a digital work of art and a work of interior architecture—through its network it can open into other e-Windows elsewhere in the world, blurring the boundaries between space and time.

For now and until Futur en Seine, when we will eventually be able to watch and experiment with it, we only have this illustration. From what we gather, this project can give meaning to the whole “imaginary travel” fantasy. This photo also that suggests the idea of the most peaceful house in the world. A place fully covered in reproductions of seasonal forests, under a clear sky, where we can daydream, read novels, or browse cool photography magazines while drinking green tea in total tranquillity. As a matter of fact, it might be the first project from Futur en Seine that we’ll experiment with, maybe for a couple of minutes, maybe for a full hour.
