There will be tattoo artists such as Little Fortress, Glazed Handpoke, and many more, to give you your year-end tattoos. Black Christmas (1974) is one of the most important Canadian horror films ever made—a decidedly gimmick-free spookshow that weaves terror and humor into a festive holiday package. Conventionally, in a horror film, promiscuous teens are the first to fall under the killer's blade, but just the opposite is true in this one. Its heroine, Jess, is not only pregnant, but she's also planning an abortion. Conversely, the first to fall under the blade is the most innocent. This is a refreshing change from the heavy-handed moralizing that has become standard in American horror, and puts all of the characters in equal peril. —Rizky Rahadianto

Dubbed as “the loudest band in New York,” feedback and fuzz worshippers, A Place to Bury Strangers will be sure to put on a chaotic show this Friday (21/12) at the Fourth Floor of Rossi Musik (across from Cafe Mondo). They’re so loud that earplugs will be provided at the venue (who needs them, really? If you listen to them, your eardrums are probably already fucked anyway). Having honed their crafts since 2003, the shoegazer trio is on their very first Asia tour and will be supported by Flukeminix, Bandung’s post-rock enigma, and Jakarta’s post punk newcomer, Pelteras. —Yudhistira Agato

When the final episode of Mr. Robot dropped on 13 December, I excitedly put on my headphone and turned off my phone so I can enjoy it religiously. Aside from giving us some pretty big reveals (as the show always does), and more than a few holy-shit moments, the way season 3 wrapped up is very satisfying. In season 3, our favorite messed-up-in-the-head anarchist hacker, Elliott Alderson, continues his path of personal salvation and revolution while trying to save people he loves from the mysterious Dark Army and the FBI. —Yudhistira Agato
