Like the chiptune video game-inspired music it celebrates, the Blip Festival is growing up fast. This year’s installment launches tonight, with music by Anamanaguchi, No Carrier, and our very own games correspondent Josh Kopstein (Zen Albatross). The next nights include performances by luminaries Starscream, Nullsleep, Bit Shifter, and our favorite 1-bit composer Tristan Perich.

And tonight, starting at midnight, we’re teaming up with Babycastles and Kill Screen to throw a party at their temporary space at 285 Kent Ave, in Williamsburg, Brooklyn. It’s the first of three parties, featuring games, Indian food, and live music / DJ sets. Tonight, we’re throwing in some typewriters for our very own speed typing competition. Banner below:
