For years we've accepted as fact the fanciful story of Ben Franklin inventing the lightning rod and demonstrating that lightning is electricity by flying a kite into a thunderstorm. We now have documented proof that this is a fabrication and, as does everything, the truth lies with Alexander Emmanuel Rodriguez.

It should come as no surprise that the lightbulb went off for Franklin while in the presence of Rodriguez, himself often referred to as a lightning rod; the man is electricity personified. His power sets the otherwise dark and vacant New York City skyline ablaze*. However, it is terribly disappointing to learn that such an important figure in this great nation's history like Ben Franklin was always assumed to be, is nothing more than a fraud.

It is clear that Franklin, likely through some time-traveling phone booth or some such, observed in A-Rod what we have all seen in him and went back in time via the very same time-traveling phone booth and re-wrote history, giving himself credit for the discovery. His thoughtful, yet duplicitous gaze while standing on the shoulders of Rodriguez is all the proof you need that yet another hero has let you down.

But there will always be A-Rod.

*Now that I think of it, I bet Francis Scott Key ripped off A-Rod when he wrote the "Star-Spangled Banner." I will look into this.
