Known for their soup cans and sunflower seeds, Andy Warhol and Ai Weiwei are two of the most important names in recent art history. The National Gallery of Victoria is bringing together the two pop visionaries for one massive show this December. The biggest contemporary show in the gallery’s history, Andy Warhol | Ai Weiwei will feature over 300 works—from Warhol’s silkscreen prints and celebrity snaps to new, exclusive works by Ai Weiwei (such as the buzzy Lego sculpture). Today, the NGV also announced their largest Friday Nights at NGV line-up, which will see a meeting of music and art. V Warhol.

Each Friday throughout the exhibition period (December 2015-April 2016) a different musician will take to the stage, with a bunch of them using their performance as an extension of the exhibition. ‘90s alt guys Regurgitator will perform their own spin on the Velvet Underground's debut album produced by Andy Warhol; NZ-based musician Silicon will play his latest album Personal Computer, which was inspired by Warhol’s The Factory; and psychedelic US act Moon Duo will use projections inspired by Warhol’s series of Exploding Plastic Inevitable multimedia events.

Other musicians to perform in the series include: Melbourne’s Twerps; '70s No Wave figure James Chance; Texan electronic act Neon Indian; Norwegian vocalist Jenny Hval; Sydney’s Jack Ladder & The Dreamlanders; and more.
