Mofo is the festival of music and art held annually at Hobart’s MONA. Curator Brian Ritchie says that the upcoming edition will “tickle all the senses.” We already know that The Flaming Lips are headlining (cue glitter canons), and now we know some other stuff too—like that Mona’s notorious poo machine will be going on a cleansing diet especially for the occasion, and that 300 artists, musicians and performers from all over the world will be involved in Mofo 2016.

We are looking forward to: The Flaming Lips playing the outdoor main stage and maybe even crowd surfing in a giant bubble; Grammy-winning, Sesame Street-appearing, Bjork-collaborating Dame Evelyn Glennie (UK) performing solo percussion; composer Antonio Sánchez (USA) drumming a live score to a screening of Birdman; Kate Miller-Heidke debuting new work in cahoots with the Tasmania Symphony Orchestra; Japanese hip hop turntabilist DJ Krush scratching up a storm; poet-come-rapper Kate Tempest stealing hearts; a Beckett triptych performed by the State Theatre Company of South Australia; an explosive mix of pop, jazz and cinema care of HERMESensemble; events at places and spaces all around Hobart; and having free range on the whole Mona site, which will be closed to the general public between January 15-17.

Head to the Mofo site to suss the full line-up and buy tickets (on sale now).
