Opening Ceremony’s ‘Netflix and Chill’ Fashion Shoot

Lounging around in designer labels like Dries Van Noten and Issey Miyake is how Opening Ceremony’s version of ‘netflix and chill’ goes down. The retailer has released a fashion shoot that picks up on what could be 2015’s most popular meme (which is a phrase that, if you’ve been living under a rock/too busy binge-watching House of Cards, is a euphemism for getting it on).

Only in this editorial we don’t actually see anyone hooking up, or even being mildly intimate for that matter. Instead, the models sit in darkness with only the glow of screens illuminating their faces. The photographer Matthew Kelly says about the concept: “When you go to Netflix.com, the website shows images of families smiling at each other, sitting together in big living rooms with tons of natural light. It also shows photos of people streaming shows on their iPhones or tablets on park benches on sunny mornings. None of these images seem realistic to me. When I’m streaming movies at home, I mean business. I’m usually in bed with my favourite junk food and a glass of wine, laying in the dark giving my MacBook my full attention.” While we may not be able to afford one of the featured $895 scarfs, that’s something we can relate to.

Over on Opening Ceremony's site, the photographer also shares some Netflix 'recipes'—The Devil Wears Prada and $12 worth of Jarlsberg sound familiar?
