'True Detective' Turned Into Minimal Illustrations With Amazing Detail

A 'True Detective' fan has taken his TV favorite to new, and beautiful, extremes.

True Detective fan site, chillingly called WeKeepTheOtherBadMenFromTheDoor.com, has produced a treasure trove of sleek, minimalist fan art or one of this TV season's most heavily-discussed shows. The images detail every character on the HBO series, as well as their titles, positions and good/evil/unknown alignment.

'WeKeepTheOtherBadMenFromTheDoor' is the creation of Nigel Evan Dennis, a graphic designer from Chicago who is earnestly enamored with True Detective. On the site Dennis says, "True Detective is poetic. It is dark. It is deep, not in a trite way. But it carries you to some true depth. It feels like a living, breathing organism."

Dennis was also known for creating minimal-yet-intricate illustrations of other HBO cult favorite, Game Of Thrones.

Much like the Game Of Thrones site, this one features illustrated infographics, including geography of the show's setting, as well as more in-depth charts. Our favorite might be this rendering of episode four's closing shots—a six-minute-scene captured in a single shot:

Dennis has also included illustrations of his theories about the many mysteries behind the series:

The map of Louisiana at near the bottom of the site follows a burgeoning trend toward innovation and interactivity in fan art. Simply mouse over one of the 12 locations charted across the Pelican State and a short description will appear, describing what that place is or what happened there.

The dedication doesn't stop there. In between conceiving and illustrating fan theories and meticulously logging every single character and location, Dennis found time to compose simple tributes to the powerful iconography and cinematography that True Detective is gathering a lauded reputation for:

If you've got a suggestion for Dennis' next drawing, he's calling for input via twitter at @otherbadmen or @nigelevandennis. And if you're anywhere near the True Detective fan that Dennis is, he's selling prints of his work for $50-$100 a pop. Many are already sold out, so check out the store at the bottom of WeKeepTheOtherBadMenFromTheDoor.com before it's too late.
