Viral Style: Tweets For Designer Goods And Tinder-Inspired Shopping

This week promised not to break our hearts.

SOCIAL MEDIA CURRENCY POP-UP OF THE WEEK

via Mashable

Oh hey, did you hear? It's New York Fashion Week! To celebrate, Marc Jacobs is opening a 'Daisy Marc Jacobs Tweet Shop' pop-up store in the city from today until Sunday--but trust, this ain't like other pop-ups. Sure, you have your lounge, your swanky drinks, your photobooth (same old same old), but the twist is, you don't have to flash cash to get your hands on designer products. Instead, visitors can 'pay' by dropping the hashtag #MJDaisyChain on social media accounts like Twitter and Instagram. It's not yet clear how many likes/retweets etc you need to get the fragrance and accessory goodies, but one thing's clear--someone's getting a raise in the MJ marketing department.

TINDER-INSPIRED E-TAIL APP OF THE WEEK

Here's another story landing in time for NYFW: luxury e-tail boutique Modus Operandi has just dropped a new app that's probably (definitely) just a little bit inspired by ridiculously popular dating app Tinder. Users can browse through collections of catwalk pictures from the Autumn/Winter shows, swiping left to 'dislike' or right to 'like' a given image (just like on Tinder)--the idea being that they will be alerted when a liked style becomes available to buy on the Modus website. Clothes, shoes, potential partners… all there for the taking with minimal effort. "It's like real life, but better."
