What Happens When Neon Glitches Make Love

KOKOFREAKBEAN’s video will make your brain explode and your eyes melt.

Imagine throwing After Effects or Maya into a blender, hitting puree and watching as the contents stubbornly resist homogenizing. That should give you the basic idea of what a KOKOFREAKBEAN video might look like. In OSSITY #3 – SWAG ET CETERA, shards of rich color spastically rip through each other in a discordant orchestra of incongruent data. Dissonant neon shapes strobe schizophrenically in viscous spasms of immiscible color. The trip-stutter visuals cut irresolutely between staccato pools of rainbow ooze and mutated abstract formations. It is a volatile psychedelic glitch bomb that explodes with indeterminacy, never betraying what will occur next.

The video begins violently yet stalls upon a strange robot-looking eye that the camera hovers over slowly. In stark contrast to the rest of the video, the robot eye is set apart insofar that it is the only distinguishable element. It’s eye lends the images a point of view as if we are seeing them from its warped perspective.

The world of the robot eye is emulsified in a colliding mass of nuclear color that never actually culminates into anything and ends just as suddenly as it begins. The video feels as if it’s attempting to reach some point of coalescence, yet is consistently unable to do so due to the dissonance of the layered images. It is a pinwheel aberration that flares with a cartoon insanity without any distinct purpose, except to scramble the brains of the viewer so that he or she may adopt the perspective of the robot eye.
