An entire Boeing 747 made it all the way to Burning Man and became the festival's jumbo jet Nightclub. Get a first hand look at how Big Imagination transformed this abandoned plane into a party lounge. The interactive tours were put together by Matterport, a tech media company that specializes in creating 3D environments. Michelle Lee, one of the people that helps run special media projects for Matterport, captured two 3D virtual tours of the plane during the stages of construction. The first captures the plane in its original condition, before the team started any serious renovations.

Stage 1:

The second tour shows the plane’s progress in a subsequent stage of construction, after the crew had started installing furry furniture. The still images were taken of the plane upon completion, when the revelers were finally let on board. At night, a DJ booth was setup on the second floor toward the rear end of the plane—playing music to a crowd on the ground below.

Stage 2:

Matterport’s virtual 3D environments are used by a variety of different business. Everyone from real estate developers to entertainment companies. Matterport uses a 3D camera to digitalize real world spaces. The company has an archive of some 250 unique digital spaces they’ve developed over the years.
