Wubba Lubba Dub Dub! 'Rick and Morty' Becomes a Pokémon-Style Game

After Mr. Poopy Butthole's ominous words about "a year and a half… or more" before the next season of Rick and Morty, we got pretty emotional. But now Adult Swim Games is offering an insane consolation prize: a full Pokémon-style mobile game called Pocket Mortys. The game challenges you to catch and train up to 70 different kinds of Mortys while you explore the whole wide Rickstaverse.

The similarities to the Pokémon games are so spot-on, you know creators Justin Roiland and Dan Harmon needed a squadron of lawyers to scour the game for actionable plagiarism. Various Ricks, aliens, and even a Jerry act as trainers, each with their own unique set of Mortys. Instead of Pokémaniacs, there's Super Fan Ricks, and The Council of Ricks obviously replaces the Elite Four. But the creativity with which Big Pixel Studios, the design studio behind the project, approach the Ricktaverse puts Nintendo's Microwave-type Pokémon attitude to shame.

Some types of Mortys have made appearences in the show, like Cronenberg Morty, but others are outright outlandish. Some make some kind of sense, like Telekinetic Morty, while Old Morty, Veiny Morty, and Evil Rabbit Morty leave the head thoroughly scratched. Basically what I'm saying is that I'm already itching to catch them all.

The game comes out on January 14th, so gather up all that free time you thought you were going to spend at the gym and prepare to be the very best..like no one ever *buurrrrrrrrp*.
