Pop Art Projections Turn This Music Video into a Living Lichtenstein

Jeb Hardwick brings the bright colors and cutouts of Pop to Wild Palms' "Ennio."

A young girl smokes by a window, a couple clutch each on the floor, a female form is sucked into a red and white vortex, and dapper men look slyly across the room in Jeb Hardwick’s new Roy Lichtenstein-style video for Wild Palms' new single, "Ennio," which debuts December 11 via One Little Indian Records. Simply put, live Pop art projections turn actors into moving paintings. The 50s-style patterning mixed with a creative lighting design and accompanying soundtrack give the retro style a modern flair, a resounding success for what Hardwick calls "the most intense shoot I've ever done." Further, neither the projections nor the actors are completely static, giving the video an uncanny touch; the characters are neiter simply cutouts or archetypes, but human beings experiencing flattening moments.
