These Paper Chandeliers Look Just As Impressive As The Crystal Kind

Undulating cardboard tubes create a sea of white on the ceiling of a VIP area.

Chandeliers don’t just have to be made from sparkling crystals to have an impact. Take this paper chandelier installation, a collaboration between Cristina Parreño Alonso and MIT which was presented at the VIP area at the ARCOMadrid art fair in Spain in February.

The design features varied length cardboard tubes that hang from a wire mesh so they create a wave effect. To further enhance the stalactite-like clusters lights were attached behind the tubes to enhance the formation. Using simple materials and minimal technology they’ve managed to create an entirely effective and unique installation.
