An Interactive Experience: The Future Of Gaming

Plastic Demoscene Group use accessible consumer electronics to demonstrate the future of an industry.

In an effort to create the most immersive virtual environment possible using nothing but widely available consumer electronics, Plastic Demoscene Group illustrates the future of gaming.

The project, which transforms a standard studio space into an intoxicating entertainment spectacular, combined a 3D stereoscopic view with a complete head tracking solution and a virtual hand created exclusively for upcoming Datura. With a setup just as elaborate as the technology itself, the featured video demonstrates the incredible innovations in the gaming industry afforded by technology.

Datura, which has been described as less of a game and more of an interactive experience, uses a disembodied hand onscreen, like a mouse cursor in 3D, to guide the user to a culmination of different scenarios. The intricate use of the PlayStation Move motion controller gives the user the ability to push, pull, poke and probe throughout the entire experience, revolutionizing the role of a user via direct interaction.

Into video games? Datura will be released strictly for PlayStaion on May 8th. If you get your hands on a copy, let us know how dope the virtual hand actually is.
