By day, Calvin Cardioid produces music for mobile apps and games. By night, he creates playful electronic “pop ballads” full of synthesized soundscapes. For his latest track, “Electronic Ghost Waltz”, off of his new EP A Ride and a Waltz, Calvin enlisted French animator Alice Tiroille to create a nice little animated 3D music video.

The animation is deceptively simple, like a science fictional slice of life on Earth or some other planet. A girl flies through various landscapes on some fictional vehicle, en route to an unknown destination.

“I listened to the music over and over until this universe came to my mind, and the rest followed,” Tiroille tells The Creators Project. “I used 3D to create it [in] Maya, and I used After Effects for the compositing.

A Ride and a Waltz is out on King Deluxe.
