Further Evidence That Harpo Marx Is the Prince of Slapstick

Editor Vince Di Meglio puts all his greatest pranks in one place.

Where other kids grew up watching Power Rangers or Dragonball Z, my childhood is filled with black-and-white Marx Brothers classics. Groucho Marx's lightning-speed one-liners and Chico's ever-ineffective pick up lines taught me everything I needed to know about being witty. But Harpo Marx, without ever uttering a word, was easily my favorite. Whether lighting a cigar with an industrial blow torch, stealthily cutting small parts from people's jackets and suits, or wooing a lady with batted eyelashes and a squeeze horn, Harpo could perform the same joke a thousand times without losing an ounce of humor. Buster Keaton and Charlie Chaplin may be the kings of slapstick, but Harpo's the prince.

Editor Vince Di Meglio captures Harpo's timeless tropes in a supercut gathering his silliest faces, most iconic scenes, and one of his most beautiful harp solos (for the uninitiated, Harpo actually played the harp—a mellow contrast to his chaotic physical humor) in one spot. Enjoy as a primer if you've never seen a Marx Brothers movie, or as a reminder that you should go binge watch the collection as soon as possible—as Di Meglio did right before putting together Harpo Marx: Chaos Reigns (2015), which you can watch below.
