At this point, it's hard to find new ways to add kindling to the Sam Darnold hype inferno. In just 10 starts as a redshirt freshman, Darnold took USC to its first Rose Bowl since 2009, won a national player of the year award, has the Trojans firmly ensconced in everyone's early preseason top five, and has cemented himself as the favorite for both the Heisman Trophy as well as the top overall pick in next year's NFL Draft. How does anyone possibly live up to all of that? The answer, friends, is by doing cool shit, and this past weekend, Darnold delivered some.Primo anticipation, right there. But I'd be remiss not to give some love to Darnold's extremely committed receiver, USC volleyball player Sean Morrissey. Morrissey is listed as 6-foot-5 and he needed every inch of it plus some considerable vertical leap to reel in Darnold's pass. "Heads up Trojan Nation. I think we may have found our next great receiver," Darnold captioned it. That's probably not going to happen, but last year's leading receiver, JuJu Smith-Schuster, did just get drafted in the second round by Pittsburgh. So, sure, give the dude a tryout. Until proven otherwise, there is no reason to doubt Sam Darnold.
