Would you live in an city made out of emojis? Well, to start, your food options would be relatively limited, and there wouldn't be Uber. But, thanks to a collaborative project between Architizer and architect/FAT co-founder Sam Jacob, we have a rough idea of what a Unicode Consortium-based hub would look like. Behold, the Emojiopolis.Jacob explains the project's underlying, conceptual goals:"What if by using pictures to augment the ways we describe places and landscapes, we are also making places and landscapes? Could the agglomeration of symbols we tap into our screens take on a life of their own?If so then is this image of Emojiopolis might be the kind of world that emoji-speak creates…perhaps the emoji characters will become building blocks of new kinds of landscape that could never have been conceived without them."His imagined city is by no means a utopia, but we hear the rent is cheap. The neighborhood with the 24 hour bodegas looks particularly appealing.
